Unit 168 - 221 9th Street

Cute 2 bedrooms and 2 baths half-duplex on 9th Street. The living, dining area, and kitchen are open and bright. The master bedroom has a queen and the guest room has 2 twins. There are a futon and a sleeper in the living room for an extra guest. There is a good parking area and garage use for storage. The home has a boat lift so only 1 boat allowed.

The city of Key Colony Beach has so many things to do and you can walk to it all! Play tennis and golf on 8th Street. Take the kids to the playground on 7th Street. Watch the sunset from Sunset Park on 12th Street. Charter a boat to go deep sea fishing. Rent a kayak and paddle the day away or take a snorkel or dive trip to see Sombrero Reef. Eat, drink, and be merry! There are 2 restaurants in KCB, the Key Colony Inn, and Havana Jacks. Enjoy an Espresso Martini at the Inn or dining on the ocean at Havana Jacks. Rent some bikes and cruise through the island. Or just do nothing and relax!30 amp and 110 electricity, water, lights, and a fish cleaning table.

  We loved the location and have already rented for next year but there were some definite maintenance and quality issues. First, there is no vacuum. I had to go by one. There was a filthy old broom. You can’t stay at the beach and have dogs without a vacuum. Lots of dust and hair balls when we got there. The furniture was ok but dirty especially between the cushions. There is a huge patio but no outside dining furniture. A table and chairs would be nice to enjoy eating outside. Towels were very old, the water toys were broken. This place has such great potential if the owners cared a little more.

  We had a wonderful month. The duplex was clean and well supplied for our in house chef, we missed having a dishwasher. It was nice to have a kayak to go with ours so 3-4 could go exploring together.

  First off there was dog hair all over the place a black dog my wife vacuumed the whole place before we took our bags in not sure who skipped the vacuum? Ants were all over the place kitchen back bedroom bath and master bath. Went to Home Depot and got some ant spray it slowed them down for a day or so. Master bath shower was plugged with hair needed draino another trip to home depot. Can’t use the boat lift needs new carpet on the bunks and a cord that wasn’t out I have a 21’ boat luckily the house next door is under construction and no tenant so was able to park a portion on there dockage. But if they are there your out of luck.

  We enjoyed our time however a few details I would suggest for improvement. Advising that certain items are onsite, dish soap, laundry detergent as it is silly for each guest to buy a new bottle and be leaving 90%. A simple and low cost item that could be included. New wash clothes are highly recommended as the current ones are in bad shape, same with the pillows and stained mattress cover. The bins were full when we arrived, something I would think the rental company would check and ensure they go out so new renters have room to place recycleables. My main issue was the construction going on next door. They were doing a full gut job, chipping up concrete and cutting into pipes. It was loud and disruptive when trying to enjoy breakfast by the water or relax/sleep in. I was disappointed this was not mentioned when we booked nor any compensation offered when I brought it up. Overall the property was clean and well supplied.There were tiny ants in the kitchen when we arrived and we kept food scraps/garbage in the fridge to try and combat this. The windows also do not have a good seal so the AC runs pretty constant if you want to keep the place cool, I can imagine that gets quite expensive as it is warmer.

  Several problems; boat would not fit at dock; hoist in way and neighbors boat too big. Also trailer would not fit in yard (our boat is 29 feet). We had to find our own solution to this problem and meant daily we had to drive to our boat since it wasn't just outside the door. Made loading and unloading inconvenient. You were helpful in letting us park at agency night before we left but again, unable to wash with freshwater motors and trailer.

  You can tell the owners care and take pride in there place. went there for 7 day fishing trip the garage is massive for all our fishing and dive gear. after long days on the water teh swim spa was a hit.

  House was great and provided a well needed vacation and escape. Easy access to the water with the boat being right there. Plenty of room to relax and layout after a long day on the couch or the screen porch and a nice addition of the pool midweek took the relaxing to another level. Can’t wait to get back
