Key Colony Beach is located at MM 53.5 at the northern end of Marathon. The Islands of Marathon span about 15 miles in the Middle Keys, halfway between Key West and Key Largo. The historic Island of Pigeon Key is located at the north end of the 7-mile bridge with its 65-foot high span. The bridge offers easy access to the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic Ocean. | | The Island of Marathon is a bird watcher's paradise - spot roseate spoonbills, bald eagles, great blue herons, and much more native to the region. The Marathon Wild Bird Center is located at Crane Point Hammock, a hardwood hammock and natural history museum. | | Kayak and explore the miles of tunnels under the mangroves.   The rental property was perfect for what we were looking for! The house was plenty large enough for multiple families to enjoy the A/C and then head out for some dock fishing where tarpon, nurse sharks and manatees are a common sight. Will book again.

  Key Colony is a very nice quiet safe key. The home is in walking distance to a couple of nice restaurants. The canals are clean and wide. The down side the kitchen amenities very basic no TP or paper towels. My wife and I had a great vacation and would stay at this home again.

  The house is a lot bigger than it seems in pictures so it accommodated our group perfectly. It was clean and the main living space is very open which was perfect for everyone to mingle comfortably. That was a huge plus.
  
  The only issue we ran into were the covers on the beds were just throw blankets rather than legitimate bedding so it got a little chilly if you like to crank the A/C, we could not control the master bedroom TV, and the cookware provided is limited so be prepared to purchase a lot of your own.

  Rental was very dated, needs to be brought out of the 70’s. Should charge a lower rate due to being outdated then it would be ok. Appliances were all updated but the furniture and kitchen are not. Unit severed it’s purpose but not anything special.

  We got stuck with this rental because the home we rented had covid + renters, so this was the only place available. My biggest complaint was that there are NO extras. There’s no beach towels, bikes, fishing poles, etc. the chairs outside are very uncomfortable. The sink was leaking in the master, which was fixed. The ceiling was leaking in the second bedroom. We told them when they came to fix the sink. He looked at it, but that was it. There are NO dressers in the unit, so everything can either be hung up, or placed on the upper shelf in the closet. The window in the master bath is not complete privacy. I was shocked when I went in to shower at night. My husband went outside, and yes, you can see straight in. I’m tall, so basically you could see my chest if I was coming out of the shower from the street below. Weird. To me, it seems like the owners want to collect the rent, but put zero into making you stay more enjoyable. I am happy with key colony realty, just not this home.

  Starting with the 4:00pm check in, we never heard about anyone from the Property Management office. I went to the Key Colony Realty office where the Property Management is located and requested the key. The rental property was clean, but very outdated. The three old, saggy sofas located in the living room area were all extremely uncomfortable to sit on. The sliding door in the master bedroom did not close properly. It stayed open 1/4 of an inch were rain came in through there as well as wind noise. My wife was squeezing towels on the opening of the door on Sunday night at 3:00AM to avoid rain and wind coming in. It was fixed on Monday as the sliding door can not be open anymore until the owners decide on replacing it. An air conditioning grill on the hallway was making a loud rattle noise. The air conditioning company came on Tuesday and remove a tape that was loose inside producing the noise, which was heard in the bedroom and living room when watching the "hand full" of regular TV channels, which were the only ones available. When we left on Saturday, we noticed the faucet in the main bathroom started leaking. Thank God, we miss that in our 7 day stay. The surrounding duplexes had lounge chairs, table with umbrella. We had none of that. Also, the Cabana Club is not included with the rental. We have stayed many times at Key Colony. We have friends and family members that own places at Key Colony and they enjoy, as well as their renters their updated, nicely furnished properties.
